I'm guest blogging today on Becky's page, but I promise to be good and post photos from our weekend in Dallas soon. In the meantime, here's a photo of the gorgeous Texas bluebonnets that appear in spring.

Shabby Apple - Redux
Remember my Shabby Apple dress that was more shabby than apple (on my frame?) Well look what I got in exchange!Cute, no? It's the perfect spring/summer dress and is acceptable for work (absolute requirement) or play. Called "Sheep Meadow" this dress is light cotton and from the Central Park collection, making it perfect for weekend walks in the Common. Plus it has the added bonus of hidden pockets! I popped this dress on and instantly fell in love with it, and I can't wait for the Boston weather to warm up so I can take this dress out on the town.

The Prepster
I love clothes, and I love the act of shopping that comes with getting clothes. The one thing I don't like though, is determining my style. If I had to describe my style it would be dressy casual. There's nothing I love more than a pair of jeans and fabulous heels. But that's not really a style, is it?
Well, lo and behold, one of my favorite online shops, Shabby Apple, has the answer for me. They just created a widget that tells you what your style is based on a few silly questions.
I took the challenge and it turns out that my style is:I don't know about loafers and boat shoes for my style, but I do heart me some J. Crew, Ralph Lauren and Kate Spade (and just ask Stephen what my brand is - he'll tell you I'm so Banana Republic.) So maybe I do know my style after all.
Want to see what your style is? Just take the little test below and find out for yourself.

Quick Escape
I am making my escape this weekend to one of my favorite cities in all of Texas (ok, my only favorite city in Texas.)
Stephen and I are taking a long weekend to celebrate Becky's wedding. It will be a weekend to eat, drink, eat, eat and be merry. Oh, and I'm likely to do a little running while I'm there with my girl Laurel. Cause that's what I do (eat, eat eat and then run a little.)
I'm so happy to be back home and getting my dose of southern hospitality (mixed with a dash of couture.) Dallas always reminds me how much I miss Texas. It's so good to see our friends, and of course the food! I'll be back on Tuesday blogging about the wedding and the trip, so look for me then!

Dirty Little Secret
Ever have a dirty little secret? You know, the kind that of secret that is really a guilty pleasure, but you'd surely be teased if anyone found out? Well, I'm about to spill one of those secrets. First though, some background.
It's no secret that Stephen is a bit of a nerd. He likes playing video games, though not the cool kind; he's really into RPGs - role playing games. He has his D&D cards tucked away in the house, and he's a not-so-secret fan of a little Syfy show called Battle Star Galactica. He's such a fan of the show that during March Madness last year, when Michigan State was playing Louisville for a chance to go to the Final Four, Stephen stayed home to watch the series finale of BSG while I went to the bar to cheer on the Spartans (and I didn't even go to MSU.) Like I said, a little nerdy (but I promise this is leading somewhere).
Fast forward.Stephen rented a movie called Caprica (or so I thought it was a movie.) You can read about the show here, but please know the gorgeous and very talented Eric Stoltz plays one of the lead characters. Anyway, the pilot is a 2-hour premiere and it's FANTASTIC! Instantly I'm hooked on this show (watching Eric Stoltz doesn't hurt) and each week I gladly sacrifice a Friday night to stay in and watch Caprica. So where does it fit in with Stephen's nerdiness? As it turns out, the other character, Adama, ties directly into BSG. In fact, Caprica is essentially the prequel to BSG.
So you see, Stephen tricked me into his world after all.

A Very Shabby Apple
Remember that awesome dress I got for my upcoming spring weddings from my favorite online shop, Shabby Apple?
Well, it just wouldn't do. I don't know how the model pulled it off, but the dress sat like a burlap sack when I put it on. Which is tragic because I LOVED the dress. So... back to the drawing board.
After searching high and low, I finally found a great dress from Macy's (of all places.) In fact, the dress was so wonderful (and so inexpensive) I ordered it in a pretty shade of blue and purple, natch.
I don't have photos (yet) but rest assured there will be photos from both weddings. Yippee!

Traveled: Punta Cana
I've been bad. No blog post for weeks, but hopefully these beautiful photos from our vacation last week to Punta Cana will relax you and make you forget that I haven't been a good blogger.
We went with Stephen's mom, sister and 8 year-old niece. We stayed at the NH Real Arena and NH Real Beach. Stephen and I upgraded to the Beach side, which is an adults-only side. It provided a nice reprieve when we wanted quiet, but since both sides are connected, we were able to spend a lot of time with Stephen's family.
The Punta Cana airport is entirely open and airy. Very unique and very cool.

We went snorkeling in the reef. Stephen had a great time. I had a great time snapping photos of this water.
How gorgeous is Stephen's mom?
Overall this was a phenomenal trip. I would definitely come back to this island and resort again.
